The 2022 Corporate Christmas Party: Wear This
If you’re like me you avoid going to the office at all costs. Working remotely since March of 2020 has been life changing. My overall well being has improved dramatically. This insanity is coming from an extrovert who at one time needed to be around people. My lifestyle over the last five years or so has me alone a lot of the time and I’ve really taken to it. Whether it was working from home and/or being single I found a sense of balance that I unknowingly needed in order to make me a better a person.
Aside from the benefits of being alone working from home has allowed me to sleep better, given me time back in my day as I no longer prep cook for the week (numerous food allergies). The peace and quiet allow me to work rather than stomp around poorly lit rows of computers in lug boots waiting for someone to look up, so I can casually begin reminiscing about last weekend. Sunday scaries maybe happen once a month despite my distaste for my current sales position.
My home space is surrounded by shades of green, crystals, calming essential oil blends, plenty of mineral water, foods I can eat, a dog I love and a neighborhood full of others eager to break from their day, fueling me with a sense of community I’ve longed for since Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
But once a year there is the infamous work Christmas party. Dreaded by some, loved by others. Really, the only thing that gets me excited about a work Christmas party is finding the perfect outfit and it might sound cliché, but the free booze. This year green layering tops and vegan/tweed jumpers pulled on my heartstrings the way a particular colleague has a tendency to do.
I found a new love for Abercrombie this year as I combed the web looking for cute dresses for my Lake Travis trip. This was a high school girlfriend trip of 11 that happened a few months back; Some only wear pink on Wednesdays. My hope is that people grow but not everybody does. I was once approached in the early 2000’s to “model” for Abercrombie…a.k.a work in retail. I took them up on the offer for roughly three months. The petite dresses at Abercrombie I must say, on my 5’0” frame. They just work.
